Becoming a Florida real estate agent requires extensive study. According to the state Department of Business & Professional Regulation, you are required to complete a state-approved 63-hour pre-licensing course in order to become a sales associate; brokers must have 72 hours of pre-licensing education. There are many real estate schools in Florida that offer these courses, but they’re not all the same. We put together this guide to the best Florida real estate exam prep courses to help you figure out which one is right for you.

Our team of experts looked at 25 of the most popular Florida real estate exam prep courses to determine which best prepares their students to pass the test the first time. In order to keep our reviews useful to everyone, we focused on companies that offered online prep courses that you can attend from anywhere. Each company was rated based on its accessibility, study materials, instructor support, and options for personalized learning. We also took student opinions into consideration.

After analyzing our data, we came up with seven finalists we felt confident recommending. Colibri Real Estate was our favorite because of its comprehensive programs and the excellent feedback it’s received from former students. But you may find one of our other top picks to be a better fit for you. We recommend exploring all of your options before making a decision.

Full Reviews of the Best Florida Real Estate Exam Prep Courses

1. Colibri Real Estate

Best overall.

Go To Colibri Real Estate Florida offers state-specific study materials to help students across the country become licensed. Their Florida-specific real estate education courses are among their most popular; they’ve also been approved by the Association of Real Estate License Law Officials (ARELLO) and the International Distance Education Certification Center (IDECC), so you’ll easily meet the 63-hour pre-licensing education requirement.

What to Expect

There are a lot of different resources you can learn from throughColibri Real Estate. They’re divided into smaller and larger package deals; this way, you can make a satisfying purchasing decision based on your educational needs and budget.

The Basics costs less than $200 and includes three eBooks; working through them will satisfy the 63-hour requirement. Additionally, you can reach out to local instructors if you’re stuck on a specific subject and receive a reply within one business day.

However, it’s a far better deal if you pay just a little bit more for their Exam Preparation package. This includes the basics but also provides practice exams for the licensing exam, alongside a cram video series and supplementary workbook. If you want to approach your licensing exam with confidence, this should be your first choice.

Colibri Real Estate offers upgraded packages that include additional Q&A sessions, post-licensing education, print versions of their study textbooks, and even a three-month boot camp. These can be helpful if you really need help studying for the exam, but it’s pretty excessive; most students should be fine with just the Exam Preparation package.

  • Final Review: Colibri Real Estate’ courses come with a bonus exam cram video and workbook. These serve as excellent final review tools.
  • Bonus Self Study Materials: Each student gains access to 3 e-books, a real estate dictionary, and a printed textbook on top of their prep course.
  • Live Lessons: Some of the lessons included with this course are offered live and taught by actual real estate agents. This gives you an opportunity to ask questions and get extra info while learning.

2. Aceable Agent Real Estate Review

aceable agent florida real estate exam prep course

Best for accessibility.

Online classes offer several benefits to traditional classrooms, including accessibility. Aceable Agent leans heavily into this aspect of online education with courses that are designed for anyone to easily navigate and access. They also offer different packages for different kinds of learners, so you should have no difficulty getting acclimated to these study resources.

What to Expect

Even if you only enroll in Aceable Agent’s lowest-priced Essentials package, you’ll receive fully narrated courses. This is yet another aspect of this course designed to be accessible to students, and it can be invaluable if you have a reading disability such as dyslexia. You’ll also have over 200 practice questions that are styled after the actual Florida real estate exam, as well as email support from course instructors.

Much like our top pick, Aceable Agent has a more fleshed out Ace The Exam package that includes additional video lessons and practice questions. However, they also include audio-only lessons that are great for studying while multitasking. When combined with the digital flashcards that are also included in this course, you’ll get a perfect study aid for quick sessions on the go, since it’s all compatible with modern smartphones and tablets.

Ultimately, the best package Aceable Agent provides is the Ultimate Interactive course, which is designed for students who prefer to study in a social environment. In addition to the exam prep contents contained in both previously mentioned packages, this includes private tutoring, live Q&A sessions, and live webinars five times a week. You can even go back and watch recorded versions of these webinars out of a library of hundreds.

  • Audio Lessons: Included with this course are a series of audio lectures. These are excellent tools for learning during a commute or while exercising.
  • Instructor Support: Course instructors are available to answer your questions at any time. Simply email them and you’ll receive a swift response.
  • Limited Tutoring: This course does come with tutoring, but only for 1 hour total. Consider looking elsewhere if you really need to be tutored.

3. PrepAgent Real Estate Review

prep agent real estate exam for florida

Best for efficiency.

How much time do you plan to spend studying for your real estate licensing exam? If you’re trying to minimize your time commitment, PrepAgent Florida Real Estate Review Course is an ideal choice. They offer thousands of practice questions specific for aspiring Florida realtors that you can work through in a week, or several additional features that you can work through in a month.

What to Expect

Of course, not everyone is capable of preparing for their exam with only a week of prep time. Fortunately, PrepAgent offers a middle ground with their Deluxe package. This offers the same questions included with their week-long Basic package but throws in a lot more stuff for only $20 more. This includes exam prep videos, audio lessons, flashcards, and a study eBook. This is why you’ll enjoy this course if you’re trying to start your career quickly.

But if you’re interested in taking your time, this course has you covered with an affordable Premium package with a full year access period. This adds an extra worksheet for vocabulary, which is essential in your future career to demonstrate competence among potential clients. Additionally, you’ll get access to live and archived webinars.

I recommend signing up for the Deluxe package if you want to get started as a Florida real estate agent as soon as possible. It’s not much more expensive for the Premium course, but the additional features aren’t necessary for most people. The only reason you would need it is to get a little more time to work through all the video and audio lessons. Finally, the Basic course is really only effective as a last-minute cram course and shouldn’t be considered a viable full-length option.

  • Unlimited Access: PrepAgent will never cut you off from your course content. You can access what you need for as long as you like.
  • Webinars: Live and on demand webinars are a major part of this course. Each of these teaches important concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • No Mobile App: Most content is accessible on mobile devices. However, that platform clearly isn’t the focus and isn’t as well developed as the desktop site.

4. The CE Shop Real Estate Review

the ce shop florida real estate exam course

Best for student satisfaction.

For The CE Shop, satisfying their students is a top priority. This has led to impressive results for those who enroll in their courses; according to them, about 87% of their students pass the Florida real estate licensing exam. If you want to be among the 96% of students who are satisfied with this prep course, this is a fantastic option.

What to Expect

If you can set aside two weeks to full-time studying, you can be prepared to pass your exams with the aid of this course. The eBooks, flashcards, digital glossary, and other career resources included with every CE Shop package will meet the education requirement while also adequately preparing most students to pass their licensing exams. However, there are a few upgrades that may provide you with extra value when you start your career.

In my opinion, the Standard Package doesn’t provide a significant enough benefit over The CE Shop’s Courses Only option to justify choosing it over the basic version. However, the Value package offers something very worthwhile, especially if you’re very ambitious and want to start your career quickly and correctly. Business building courses can distill years of experience into helpful lessons for beginner real estate agents, helping them avoid making mistakes that can halt their career success in the near future.

Finally, CE Shop offers a Premium package that includes everything else mentioned above, as well as 45 hours of post-licensing education. This will allow you to maintain professional status after initially becoming licensed in the Sunshine State; it’s a small addition to your up-front investment that can help you make more money further down the road.

  • Assessment Exam: At the start of the course you’ll be asked to complete an assessment exam. This will show you what you already know and what areas you need to focus your studies on.
  • Dynamic Exams: As you work through the course your exams will shift to focus on the areas you need the most help with.
  • Limited Focus: The CE Shop’s Florida course is focused entirely on practice exams. Anyone interested in other study methods should consider using this to supplement another course.

5. Bob Hogue School of Real Estate Review

bob hogue school of real estate exam course florida

Best for comprehensive instruction and student support.

The Bob Hogue School of Real Estate has been educating Florida’s aspiring real estate agents for nearly 40 years, and it’s earned a reputation as one of the go-to companies for Florida real estate exam prep. Students have had a lot of positive feedback about the support they’ve received from instructors and the usefulness of the program. While one of the company’s self-paced or in-person courses should be enough for most students, private tutoring is an option for those who need extra help.

What to Expect

The Bob Hogue School of Real Estate teaches courses in 14 cities in central Florida. The number of classes held varies by location with the most popular branches kicking off courses almost every week. You can choose from half-day classes in the mornings or evenings or full-day classes that run from 8:15 to 5:45. Some courses do have classes on weekends, but there are no weekend-only options. If for some reason you can’t find an in-person class that works for you, you can always opt for the self-paced online course instead. It covers the same material as the in-person courses, but it does so through textbook readings and online activities.

The course price includes a textbook and practice exams, two of which are taken at the end of the program. You must pass with a 70 percent or better in order to receive your certificate of completion, which is necessary to take the Florida real estate exam. There are additional supplemental materials you can purchase, like a real estate math guide, if you feel you need more practice than you get in the pre-licensing course. If you purchase the online course, you can access the reading exercises from Apple devices, but the exams and the optional interactive exercises must be completed on a computer.

Instructors are standing by during business hours to help you if there’s any material you don’t understand. If you’re enrolled in a live course, you can also ask questions during classes. The Bob Hogue School is the only company on the list that offers private tutoring to interested students as well. It’s a nice option to have if you’re struggling with the material or if you’re looking to retake the Florida real estate exam. Contact the company to discuss price and availability.

  • Multiple Formats: This course appeals to all students by being available in both self-study and live online formats.
  • Study Group: Students have a chance to attend a weekly study group. This will allow you to touch base with your teacher and other students as you learn.
  • No Final Review: Unlike other courses, Bob Hogue has no final review program to recap what you’ve learned before the exam.

6. Gold Coast Schools Review

gold coast schools florida real estate study courses

Best for flexibility.

Gold Coast Schools offers self-paced Florida real estate exam prep courses, as well as live courses in six cities. You can choose the schedule that works best for you and get started studying right away. But if you need a little more time, don’t worry. You can review the material as often as you need to for one to two years. Students report that the course is helpful and easy to follow, but if you do run into trouble, you can reach out to an instructor by phone or email at any time. There’s also an optional two-day Cram course if you prefer to meet face to face.

What to Expect

Gold Coast Schools teaches real estate exam prep courses in Lantana, Boca Raton, Broward, North Miami, Doral, and occasionally Jupiter. Classes are available in English and Spanish. They meet for 12 four-hour sessions, either in the morning or evening. You can also opt for a full week of day-long classes if you want to cover the material more quickly. If you prefer to work at your own pace, there’s the self-study course. This online program combines reading, video, and interactive activities to cover the same material you’d learn in the classroom. The study materials are mobile-friendly, so you can access them from your smartphone or tablet when you’re not at the computer.

The classroom course is the way to go if you’re looking to get the most bang for your buck. While online course students are limited to a one-year access period, classroom course students can retake the course as often as they like within a two-year period, provided there is space available. The in-person pre-licensing course also includes the two-day Cram course, which is a live workshop where an instructor will walk you through all the key concepts that you’ll likely be tested on. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions.

If something comes up outside of class, you can reach out to an instructor via phone or email. Students enrolled in in-person classes will be connected directly to their own instructor. You can ask for help as often as you need to during your course access period. Former students report that instructors are knowledgeable, friendly and make the material simple to understand. Most say they had no trouble passing their exam on the first try after completing this course.

  • 2 Year Access: Students have access to this course for up to 2 years. This should make it easy to create a study plan that perfectly fits your daily schedule.
  • Cram Class: At the end of this program you’ll have the chance to take a weekend cram class. This is an excellent way to complete your final review before the exam.
  • Limited Self Study: Gold Coast has a self-study program, but it clearly isn’t the focus of the course. Instead, students are encouraged to try the live options.

7. Career Webschool Review

career webschool florida real estate prep guide

Best for affordable exam prep.

Career Webschool only offers self-paced Florida real estate exam prep courses, but they’re some of the most comprehensive in the industry, especially for their low cost. Courses come in a variety of bundles, so you can choose only the materials you’re interested in. While it’s mostly up to you to review the material on your own, there are weekly webinars where you can ask questions about anything you don’t understand. Career Webschool is so confident that its courses will help you pass the exam that it promises to reimburse you for your second state exam fee if you fail the test after passing the pre-licensing course.

What to Expect

The basic pre-license courses cover the required education hours necessary to sit for the Florida real estate exam. Like in-person courses, you are required to take a timed final exam and pass with a 70 percent or better in order to receive your course completion certificate. In addition to the basic course, there are a number of packages that throw in additional study materials, like a MathMaster program for extra help on real estate math. You can purchase these items separately if you wish, but you’ll get the best deal with a bundle.

The basic pre-license course includes a textbook and some practice exams. “The Works” packages include extra lessons on the Florida real estate exam and six additional practice tests, so these are great options if you prefer to study under conditions as similar to the real exam as possible. These packages also come with Career Webschool’s Quality Guarantee, which promises to pay for your second testing fee if you fail the real estate exam on your first attempt after completing the prep course.

There is no support email or hotline if you run into questions, but you can sign up for the Virtual Study Program. These are two-hour weekly webinars hosted by one of Career Webschool’s instructors. Each session covers a different topic, and you can get personalized assistance with anything you don’t understand. Webinars are held every Wednesday at 7 p.m. Eastern Time, and unfortunately, there are no makeup sessions.

  • Fresh Content: Course content is constantly being updated to reflect current events in the real estate world. Doing so ensures that everything you learn is topical and useful.
  • Pass Guarantee: Career Webschool is so confident in their materials that they include a pass guarantee with their course.
  • No Live Content: This is an entirely self study based course. However, you can ask instructors for help if you get stuck at any point.

The Most Important Features: Access, Materials, Student Support and Personalization

We focused on four key aspects when choosing the best Florida real estate exam prep courses: access, materials, student support and personalization.

Access

Each of our finalists offers self-paced online Florida real estate exam prep courses that you can review at your own pace. Bob Hogue School of Real Estate and Gold Coast Schools also host in-person courses in select cities throughout the state. If you aren’t interested in attending regular live classes, you can opt for a shorter one- to two-day live workshop. Bob Hogue School did the best in this category with regular in-person courses in 14 cities and an online course you can attend from anywhere in the country.

Materials

Most Florida real estate exam prep courses come with a textbook, practice exams, and possibly some video lessons or audio CDs. The curriculum must be approved by the Florida Real Estate Commission, otherwise, it won’t count toward your required pre-licensing education hours. The best courses will give you plenty of opportunities to put what you learn into practice with sample questions and real-life examples. All of our finalists perform well in this area and meet the criteria necessary to be a state-approved education provider.

Student Support

Most Florida real estate exam prep courses are straightforward and easy to follow, but questions may still arise. A good program will give you an opportunity to get your questions answered, during the live class sessions or via email or phone outside of class. Bob Hogue School of Real Estate and Gold Coast Schools have both received a lot of praise from former students for their kind, knowledgeable instructors and prompt response times. Career Webschool also deserves a mention for its Virtual Study Program, which enables students in their self-study courses to interact with each other and get their questions answered.

Personalization

Every student has their own strengths and weaknesses, and a good Florida real estate exam prep course gives you the opportunity to tailor your study program to suit your needs. Gold Coast Schools and Career Webschool, for example, offer additional math supplements for those who struggle with the real estate math that is likely to appear on the test. Bob Hogue School of Real Estate goes even further, offering private tutoring to interested students.

Choosing the Right Florida Real Estate Exam Prep Course Delivery Type for You

Florida real estate exam prep courses come in three main formats. Each has its advantages and disadvantages. We’ve outlined them below in order from least expensive to most expensive.

  • Self-Paced: You buy the study materials and look over them at your own pace.
  • Live Online: You join a virtual classroom at predetermined times and learn alongside others.
  • Live In-Person: You travel to a physical classroom and learn from a trained instructor.

Self-Paced

Pros:

  • Cheapest option
  • Work at your own pace
  • Choose when you want to study

Cons:

  • Must be self-disciplined
  • No personalized instruction
  • Little instructor support

Who It’s Best For

A self-paced course is best for independent learners and those with busy schedules. This type of program is the most common.

Live Online

Pros:

  • Join from anywhere
  • Personalized help when needed
  • Structure keeps you on track

Cons:

  • Less interactivity than in-person courses
  • Technical problems could arise

Who It’s Best For

A live online course is ideal if you’re looking for the interactivity of an in-person course and the flexibility of a self-paced course. They’re most popular among rural dwellers who can’t travel to an in-person course, but unfortunately, there aren’t many of these.

Live In-Person

Pros:

  • Total immersement
  • Familiar environment
  • Highly interactive

Cons:

  • Involves travel
  • Can’t adjust schedule
  • More expensive than online-only courses

Who It’s Best For

A live in-person course works best for students who struggle to stay focused when studying on their own and those who prefer to learn in an interactive setting.

Real estate sales associates must complete 63 hours of pre-licensing education before they can take the test. The exam covers the basic laws and procedures you need to be aware of when selling real estate in Florida. You must pass your pre-licensing course final exam with a 70 percent or better in order to receive your completion certificate. These education hours are good for two years. If you haven’t passed your real estate exam by then, you will need to retake the pre-licensing course.
Real estate brokers have a similar requirement, though their pre-licensing courses are 72 hours and focus on aspects of maintaining a brokerage that is not applicable to sales associates. Like the sales associate pre-licensing courses, your broker pre-licensing education credits are good for two years from the date of course completion.

How do I schedule my Florida real estate exam?

Once you’ve fulfilled the requirements in order to sit for the exam, you can fill out your application and submit it to the Florida Real Estate Commission. You must include a copy of your pre-licensing course certificate to prove that you’ve completed the required education hours. You must also submit a copy of your electronic fingerprints and the exam fee. It’s $89 for real estate sales associates and $97 for brokers.
It takes anywhere from 10 to 30 days for your application to be reviewed. Once it’s approved, you’ll be given a notice to schedule. The Florida real estate exam is administered by Pearson VUE testing centers throughout the state. Locate the one nearest you and schedule the exam at a date and time that’s convenient. If you need to reschedule or cancel your exam, you can do that as long as you give at least two days’ notice.
When you arrive at the testing center, you must present a government-issued photo ID to the test administrator, and you may be subjected to additional security checks. You aren’t permitted to bring anything with you into the testing room. Lockers are available for you to store your personal belongings during the exam. For a complete list of test-day procedures, visit Pearson VUE’s website.

What if I fail the Florida real estate exam?

The Florida real estate exam is a computer-based test, so you’ll find out how you did as soon as you finish. If you didn’t pass, don’t panic. You can retake the exam as many times as you need to, and you can sign up for a new test date as soon as the next day if you’d like. But unless you were only a question or two shy of a passing grade, this usually isn’t a good idea.
For a $35 fee, you can review your test and see which questions you answered incorrectly and what the right answers were. This is an option worth considering if you’re not sure which questions you got wrong, but you must wait 21 days after your review before you can take the test again. If you know where you struggled, however, you may be better off just going home and reviewing that material before you sign up for a retake.
When you’re ready to try again, all you have to do is schedule a new test date with Pearson VUE and pay the exam fee.
How many times can you fail the Florida real estate exam?
You can take the test as many times as you need to during your two-year testing window. If you don’t pass the test in this time, you must retake your pre-licensing course and submit a new application to the Florida Real Estate Commission.

Do I need to take the Florida real estate exam if I’m already licensed in another state?

You will only be required to sit for the 40-question Florida laws section of the state exam if you already hold a license from a state with a mutual recognition agreement with Florida.
